Went to this place last WE thinking we were going to find nice and typical Jazz or Blues club. - First it is not sheap ($12 until midnight+$50 taxi from downtown Chicago) and there is nothing else to do in this area. - But most of all, doormen were unbelievably rudes and disrespecfuls. - Music was ok but not great... more

The Green Mill is located in a BAD part of town with no other attractions within walking distance. The jazz isn't the greatest, and other locations such as the Kingston Mines, etc. have much better music and are located in better neighborhoods. Once the music starts you can't even talk loud or else the waiters and waitresses will yell at... more

A definite visit for all jazz lovers to Chi-Town. The cover seemed expensive but after a few minutes forgotten. This charming club exudes history. You will not be disappointed if you check who is playing before you go. We were late coming in and got a table up front (luckily). It is a 15 minute ride from the city center,... more

Just went to the "The Green Mill" this past weekend for the first time. The music was great, and the decor is cool. The doorman is rude, and annoying though. He put a damper on my whole visit to the "The Green Mill". I don't think I'm going back until he's not working there anymore. more

The bar itself has a nice atmosphere but is nothing spectacular. The real attraction are the great jazz shows that go on there. Kurt Elling and his quartet blow the place away almost every Wednesday and there are tons of other fantastic musicians that stop by. Sometimes it gets a little crowded and if you're looking to sit down during... more

The Green Mill is one of the most satisfying places to see jazz in Chicago. It is historic and pretty authentic, which means small, smoky, very crowded, and a bit off the beaten path to tourists. People like the reviewer from Itasca who are looking for a squeaky-clean tourist attraction should not bother. Come only if you are serious about... more

This is were you will hear some of the best Jazz in Chicago. The performances are incredible not matter what night you go. Its the best bang for your buck, better then paying 15$ plus a two drink minimum at Andy's. If you get the chance, on Saturday nights after midnight Sabertooth takes the stage, these guys will blow your... more

There on a Thursday for Swing dancing, it was crowded, standing room. Mixed crowd, alot of gay males,or maybe my gaydar is just on high. Setting would have been enjoyable if the crowd wasn't so thick. Great music, and art nouveau decor transports you back to the days of string bands, live radio and great dancing(for four on the mini... more

What a wondeful place to see live jazz music on Saturday nights. The decor is fabulous, you'd swear Al Capone himself was the next booth over. And even better yet, there is no cover after 2 a.m. more
