Lots to see and shop here for the average tourist. Unfortunately, the development of this strip from the 1970's through the present resulted in the loss of lots of lovely 1920's architecture that could have been preserved and still afforded the space opportunities for retailing had planning been right. I love it! Great for people watching. Love the shops, the buildings, the restaurants, the energy. My husband and I went Labor day weekend. Very crowded. A lot of street performers, three on some blocks. Of course, crowds gather around to watch, which makes these areas slow to walk through. When we got off the Mag Mile, my husband says... more

I could sit and watch the beautiful ladies on Magnificient Mile all day long. The upscale shops must bring out the best-looking Chicago has to offer. The restaurants in the area are also terrific as there are options for every budget and taste. For the budget conscious, I would recommend Portillo's, terrific Italian sandwiches and Chicago-style hot dogs. Don't pass... more

A few years ago my wife and I began going to Chicago for some pre-holiday shopping on the Magnificent Mile. Great dining, great shopping, and the lighting festival all in a fantastic city - at a wonderful time of year! We keep threatening to switch to New York some year, but as Fall arrives, we start talking about "last" year's... more

My fiance and I went to Chicago to go shopping for Christmas. It was a wonderful trip. I would highly recommend going to the Signature Room at night to see the Chicago skyline. The Magnificant Mile is wonderful also. more
