It is funny to see the wide range of reviews... We booked via Priceline and were quite happy. We arrived very late yet they were able to accomodate our request for a king bed. The room was dated but this is a 130 year old hotel - I would have been dissapointed if it was ultra-modern. What some see at... more

I stayed here for a wedding with the rest of my family in a renovated room. Becuase we asked for a renovated connecting room we had to wait for 3 hours to get the room. We arrived at around 1:00 PM and check inn was at 3:00 but the room was not ready until 3:30. The front desk staff we... more

I stayed here as part of a business trip. My meeting was at this hotel. For the price at a "full service" hotel, I expected much more. Granted, it is a historic place, but for $250 per night what we got was the room which was quite small, had a view of the building and a tub that took 10... more

A colleague and I booked a room here this past Feb for three nights. We were assured that a room with two double beds would be available but when we got there they told us that there were none but added that a rollaway bed could be brought up to the room for $30 a night. The front desk clerk... more

The lobby was very nice and the food was above-average, but the room was very small and the air conditioning did not work. The walls were very thin: I could hear every conversation taking place in the halls and adjoining rooms. The valet and bell service took approximately 30 minutes at check-in and check out. I tipped the bellman while... more

Fabulous Location near Millenium Park and State Street shopping. Stayed here twice for business. First time, my room was a "closet" - the bathroom , closet and the room were so small I barely had room for my suitcase. There was no counter space in the bathroom. 2 people would not have fit in that room. For my last visit,... more

It has definite pros: the location is great, the lobby is beautiful, the staff was pleasant and professional. However, I have NEVER stayed in such a stripped-down room ANYWHERE. The bathroom is tiny, with a pedestal sink and no counter. Shampoo, conditioner and soap ONLY. No lotion. No shower cap. No coffee. No wet bar. No free internet. Paper-thin walls... more

Stayed at the Palmer House for Girlfriend Getaway during the Taste of Chicago. I was disappointed with the room. It was small, had a brick wall for a view, and the bathroom barely had turning around room. BUT.................................. This is a great location. It is close to shopping and attractions in the downtown area. We were a couple of blocks... more

The hotel is on a very busy street, the subway makes the street very noisy during the day. There's still construction going on, swimming pool and main entrance closed. We parked at 55 State St. across from the hotel, for 35 USD/night, ouch! However we got a cheap price for the room, USD89/night, booked through hotwire.com. Surprised to see in... more

I took my wife to Chicago for her 50th Birthday and our three nights at The Palmer House Hilton made it truly memorable. Our first room was a bit small, but this being an grand old hotel, that was expected. We did, however, inquire about a possible move to a bigger room and Erika at the front desk was more... more
