I have been fortunate enough to stay at the Palmer House on several occations. When you think of extravegent hotels from the early 1900's, the Palmer House has to be near the top of the list. This hotel is perfect stopping off point for walking around Chicago and visiting many of the most famous sights. They are all within shouting distance of the main entrance. The location of the Palmer House Hilton is good for business travelers, but tourists would probably want to stay north of the river where there are more restaurants and shops.
