First, the neighborhood if you're hesitant about staying outside the Loop. The Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood is great---lots of restaurants and architecturally interesting (both old and new) two and three story multifamily homes. You can't beat the location: We had activities in North Side neighborhoods, and we found it both fast and convenient to take the bus down the main drags... more

This is a wonderful bed and breakfast in a great neighborhood. They went out of their way by picking me up and taking me back to the nearby train station. The breakfasts were scrumptious, the bed was very comfortable, the shower, steam room and sauna were delightful, and the two cats added charm. Ray gives excellent advice on local restaurants... more

Ray's definitely deserves all the good reviews it's had here; it' s like a perfect mix between a hostel (friendly, personal atmosphere) and a hotel (very nice rooms). I found the staff incredibly helpful and nice. It was particularly good for me as I was travelling with a small child, and they honestly couldn't have been nicer. It's a great... more

We loved this place. The breakfast was great every morning. It is a little far from downtown, but that was fine with us. A short walk to the "L" every am, and we got to do everything we wanted to do. The staff was very helpful with planning our excursions and even picked us up at the "L" on our... more

Ray's is a great little B&B in Chicago - their motto, "not your parents B&B", is spot on - the place is funky and eclectic, and completely welcoming. We arrived late to find a note on the door with a number to call. They gave us a code for the door, and we were in! It's so cool walking into... more

My Girlfriend and I had wanted to stay at a B & B for a long time. We were going to be in Chicago for only a few days and my brother now lives in Wicker Park so this was perfect. We had chosen the Master Suite in the Annex building on the 3rd floor just across Ray's Room. My... more

Ray’s is quite possibly the best place I have ever stayed, and I've travelled around the world twice (aged 29)! I simply cannot rave about this place enough. It has all the things that are great about staying in hostels (communal kitchen, knowledgeable & friendly staff & a laundry room) mixed with the great things about hotels (Jacuzzi, sauna, full... more

My wife liked her breakfast so much the first morning she ordered the same everyday of our stay! Portions are huge. We stayed in the Annex 3 nights. Mundos (?) the 1st two nights: crowded, and the private bath was down the hall BUT you have access to the whole floor (except the other bedroom). It's like having your own... more

We chose this place from reviews on this site and don't regret it. We stayed in the skylight room and were very happy with it. The only downside being that you are above the kitchen and dining room so if you like to lie in after 8.00 you would struggle due to the noise from the diners round the table.... more

The best things about this B&B are: a great breakfast which includes eggs, pancakes, french toast, and a variety of cereals and fruits; wonderful, friendly staff who go the extra mile to please you; a 10-15 minute walking distance to the subway (and if you'd rather not walk, Ray or his staff will drive you to it). Having said that,... more
