My husband is a [Canadian] member of ASBO (American School Board Officials), and this year's AGM was held in Chicago. We asked one of my husband's colleagues whose approach to travel and budgetting for accommodation matches our criteria are exactly. We prefer to stay in locally-owned properties which accurately represent the character of the city we're visiting. When we asked... more

Sally and Elizabeth were very very welcoming to me. The room was quite comfortable, breakfast was excellent and the welcome and kindness shown were extraordinary. The location could not be better and the price was less than hotels nearby. more

Our first visit to a very damp and cold Chicago between 17 and 20 April 2009 was made all the more tolerable by our decision to stay at the Gold Coast B&B. The cab from the airport took a route through some rather unsavoury areas of the city but on arrival the welcome from Sally and her assistant more than... more

I stayed here, on very short notice this past weekend, July 10-12. I truly had a great experience. I do a considerable amount of both business and leisure travel, and I was very pelasantly surprised by the quality, location, cleanliness, and friendlines of the guest house. Sally Baker, the proprieter, and Elizabeth, her assistant, truly did everything to make my... more

Sally gave us the warmest welcome possible. Our room was impeccably decorated and prepared, the breakfast was all we ever wanted and the breakfast room was charming. I think that if every visitor to Chicago were to stay there it would be known as the friendliest city not just the Windy one ! Moira and Dave Emmett, more

We spent twelve nights in August in Gold Coast Guest House. We loved the location (short walk to Mag Mile, Beach, restaurants etc). The house is beautiful and very confortable. Service is fantastic, specially the staff that works for the owner, they were very attentive and helpful to provide directions, to help with reservations etc. The room was very spacious,... more

Sally's B&B is a wonderful place to stay in Chicago. It is a very nice house and is very conveniently located, a short walk away from Magnificent Mile. The quiet street and the garden contribute to a very peaceful atmosphere. Of course there are not the same amenities as in a hotel (for instance there is no elevator), but this... more

A cozy and most welcoming place to spend 10 days at. Sally and the girls made us feel at home and provided us with most useful advice. The spiral staircase takes a bit of getting used to, particularly when heaving a heavy suitcase up to your room, but it's a minor nuisance, really. Everything was kept spick and span, breakfast... more
