Fiancee and I stayed here recently (Jun/09) to check out apartments in South loop area and for a bit of romantic R-and-R. (Didn't quite do it for us for latter purpose). Booked through Hotwire (maybe that was the mistake), which rated this at 4.5 stars (wish I had a BS detector). Upon arrival, discovered only one parking option exists... valet,... more

We have stayed in 10-15 hotels in the North Michigan Ave. area, and the Intercontinental is our favorite. The location is ideal and the hotel is the perfect size: large enough but not overwhelming. The staff is polite, friendly and helpful. We'll be back. more

Wow!!! I was surprised with this hotel. First time stay and last time!!! They Nickle and Dime you on every occasion. First when you check in the girl was nice but missed all the basic. She managed to tell me more about her self then to find out my preference and then to offer and sell me a package!! No... more

We have reached a point in our society where internet is expected. This hotel charges $6.95 an hour to use the internet. When I pay $260 a night to stay in a hotel, I expect internet to be included. What a dated, price-gouging policy. This is not 1995 and the Intercontinental is not AOL! The hotel is comfortable, the rooms... more

I stayed here with my sisters last year. The rooms are beautiful and the location is great if you are going to stay on Michigan Avenue. Parking is a challenge. more

First off, the Intercontinental Chicago couldn't be in a better location and the hotel itself is an absolute gem; especially the pool. We stayed in the tower and the room was beautifully appointed and relatively large for a city hotel room. After reading about the history of the hotel, I would highly recommend exploring the hotel if you have any... more

My friend & I got a great rate at the Intercontinental Chicago off of Hotwire ($107) for our Thursday night stay. Hotwire doesn't guarantee bedding preferences, so I called the hotel directly a few days ahead of time to confirm my reservation & request a room with 2 beds. I was told that was no problem & they had my... more

I just returned from a business/pleasure trip to Chicago and had to comment on our stay at the InterContinental. After booking through a great rate via TravelZoo, I received a confirmation e-mail with an offer to send a note to the concierge with any requests. Because this trip coincided with our anniversary, I mentioned that fact when I requested we... more

What I loved: Stayed in the historic building (the hotel is two buildings conjoined - one old, one new) and our room was large and lovely. Bathroom had both a tub AND a shower. Beds were lovely with that "sheet on the outside of the blanket and inside of the blanket" thing going on, which is so nice. Pillows very... more

We live in a Chicago suburb and wanted to have a special experience for our 43rd wedding anniversary, so we booked the Intercontinental on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. We planned visits to the art museum and the "Jersey Boys." We arrived Friday evening. They gave us a really bad room initially, but after complaining, they upgraded us to the 20th... more
