We arrived to a pleasant staff to be told that our room category (King Junior suite) was not available. In fact the hotel was overbooked. They offered us a standard room with a double bed and a promise to move trhe next day. It was late so we agreed. There was not a sister property available we were told. The... more
My husband and I stayed 5 nights at the Allerton and it has been a great experience, the staff has been very nice and helpful, they upgraded us to a suite, which was grand, the bed was absolutely very confortable. The location is just perfect, in the middle of Magnificent Mile, were all the shops are and very close to... more
After working with our travel agent we settled on the Allerton for the price and location. I read SEVERAL reviews that mentioned the parking and the "hidden" fee of $51 per night. Also that the elevators and rooms were SMALL. Everything was indeed the way I read. I opted to find my own parking and after a complaint of the... more
The Allerton was everything I expected. The location was fantastic. All major tourist attractions were within walking distance. The check-in desk was helpful in that even though we arrived early (11am), we were able to check in and go to our rooms right away, giving us plenty of time to rest before venturing out. Elevators can be a problem even... more
My husband and I stayed in one of the classic rooms. It was small but perfect for us. We weren't spending much time in the room so didn't need/want anything more. It was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fine . We lucked out with a room that faced Michigan Avenue. We (especially I) enjoyed the boutique... more
We are a family of three (adults with a "tween") and have stayed at two other hotels on the Mag Mile during previous Chicago trips. This, by far, was our least liked hotel. First the good stuff: superb access to the Mag Mile, tons of shopping, easy access to CTA bus routes, nearby restaurants and access to tourist attractions. And... more
This is an older hotel situated near the north end of the Magnificent mile. The rooms have been updated but don't expect a huge room by any means. The hotel itself is nice enough. If you're coming or going during what I call 'prime' times you will experience a long delay at the elevators. Note: Only one elevator is qualified... more
We had a very pleasant stay at the Allerton from Aug 4-10. We are a family of four, with two young children, so we did book a specialty suite (Room 801). The size was adequate and a very good setup for us, with the separate bedroom. In addition, all of our special requests – mini fridge added to room, a... more
my husband and I stayed here for an overnight trip to do some shopping. This hotel is located right on the Mile. We took a chance on one of the petite rooms for a great price and were not disappointed. It was small but it was clean and appeared to be updated. We would definitely stay here again if we... more
