We've eaten at Ed's many times. The theme is diner style with the staff making wise cracks and jokes. It's always a lot of fun and our cheapest meal in Chicago. They serve beer and wine which is a plus. On our last visit, the waitstaff didn't dance like they normally do. It was a disappointment and something we always... more
Only in Chicago! A diner with a DJ and wait staff that are charmingly confrontational! Ed's diners are based on a moment in time - a real 50's diner called Lill's Homesick diner. She must have been a tough task master. Her motto was "If you like what you're eatin', order more. If you don't there's the Door." Anyway... more
I went to Ed Debevic's because a freind had gone there several years ago and had told me how funny it was. Things have certainly changed. The food was standard, nothing great. My fries were cold. My turkey rubean was soggy at the bottom. The wait staff called you honey and doll, but that's about it. Except they didn't refill... more
we had our young children with us 6,4,and 2, and thought it would be fun based on my experience there in the late 80's. wow, things have changed. the food was terrible, cold, and boring. i sent the onion rings back because they were cold, why waste the calorie count if cold. worst off, the waiters weren't funny. we really... more
Wow, so no one who went to eds had a sense of humor. You can't possabily say it wasn't fun, the attitude is the WHOLE SHTICK!!!! Get a clue. Geez, go to a restaurant where its a hundred dollars a plate and the servers will talk BEHIND your back anyway, because thats just how restaurants are. At least here, its... more
Very fun place to eat; food OK--typical burgers, and the like although they do advertise 50's type meatloaf, turkey dinners, etc. Most people I saw had burgers. Fun to go with a group and if you get a really rude waiter--even more fun! more
I recently went to Ed Debevic's with my family for a nice break from the traditional restaurants that we have gone too. A huge part of the dining experience there is that the entire staff is somewhat rude to their customers. When our waiter first met us he said, "We're a 50s and 60s restaurant with attitude, and if you... more

Heard from so many people to check this place out. Isn't worth it. Location horrible and for the price$$ the food isn't good. Ordered a hamburger and Oreo milkshake. Milkshake was runny and McDonalds burgers are better. If that can tell you!. It was 6 of us girls hoping for a funny time and the waitress did the same stuff... more
