Interesting reviews that fluctuate in ratings. For us, this was an over the top, oh my god experience. Our experience was exceptional. The service was superb and not intrusive. It is an expensive and formal restaurant. We did not do the tasting course, but just 3 courses, and each were amazingly prepared. The restaurant on a Sunday night was full... more

This restaurant has amazing food at very reasonable prices. The service is impeccable. Ask for one of the tables for two at a window - you'll have a great view overlooking Michigan Avenue. In my opinion, this is the best restuarant in Chicago. more

Do NOT go here!! Overpriced, inedible food that the wait staff rudely insisted was "rich and delicious" but we found to be a sickening concoction of butter, cheese and salt. We sent one dish back immediately and I struggeld a quarter of the way through my pasta until I was feeling ill. We then settled for a simple green salad... more

My husband and I were excited to try Cafe Spiaggia but were extremely disappointed. Our service was terribly slow -- our waiter disappeared for huge portions of time (though other waiters for other tables seemed attentive). The portions are small, which is fine, but we found the food to be just average at best. Completely overpriced. You are paying for... more

We have dined here several times in the past and have had no complaints. This time was completely different! June 8 - the Cafe was half empty...you would expect at these prices, in this economy, the staff would be kissing you on both cheeks for showing up on a Monday night...alas, NOT! Specific complaints this time as follows: - Generally... more

I was advised to go to Cafe Spiaggia by the concierge at the Westin. I was not disappointed. The food was novel and excellent, although it is pricey and not for those who want a big, splashy meal with enough left over for a doggy bag. This restaurant has a quiet elegance about it. I was dining alone and the... more

We love seasoned food, but when you spend over $350.00, you expect the best. Overly salted but we were gracious & said nothing but upset because we had terrific meals at Tru & Charlie Trotter. No comparison. Atmosphere and ambience and service great, but food paltry & SALTY!! we flew in for my wife's birthday. Don't go! more

Took my family of four (all adults) to Café Spiaggia recently (April ’09) based on a good meal we had there a few years ago. Big change! Very crowed; it seems they crammed in a lot more tables. We started with a 20 minute wait for a reserved table and it went downhill from there. We had a waitress that... more

I am always skeptical about Italian restaurants outside Italy. This time I was wrong. We had an excellent carbonara and a very tasty portion of pork. The dessert and the wine were not memorable. Service was quick, attentive, never intrusive. Even if the restaurant is a bit crowded and not very spacious, there is no need to shout to carry... more
