I had grand menu ($165) It had about 12 courses. The quantity is quite small. You could finish it in one bite. So you have to eat tiny bit to savor it. Most of time I did not know what I was eating. I remember I had a lamb rib. It tasted undercook, a bit chewy, not juicy or tender.... more

We went there on 7/24/09 to celebrate a birthday and to pay them a second visit after our first visit 7 years ago when we were there also for a birthday and we were absolutely impressed with the food and service then. This was a spur of the moment dinner since we decided to head to Chicago a week earlier... more

My wife and I dined at Charlie Trotters in November of 2007. At that time this was and still is the best dining experience I have had. The atmosphere was incredible (love the romantic intimate setting), the food was out of this world and the service was the best we have ever had. I can not remember our head waiters... more

We came with the greatest of expectations. THE Charlie Trotter's! It was awful. First, this "elegant" restaurant has the atmosphere of a diner. It was not elegant, plush, rich or subtle--the things we have come to expect in great restaurants. The food was very good, but the portions were so small we had to stop for food on the way... more

My husband and I have eaten in some excellent restaurants all over the world. So we had high hopes for Charlie Trotters to be in the top ten, if not no. 1. This was one of the most unenjoyable experiences I have ever had. The food was bland, the combination of flavors odd and the staff was the most pretentious... more

My brother and I were traveling through Chicago and wanted to hit some nice restaurants after roughing it in the other "I" states. I wanted to try Alinea but my brother, who is more of a burger guy, wanted to eat here. I humored him and was not sorry. We had a very nice evening and really enjoyed everything we... more

When I first moved to Chicago, one of the first things I did was to take myself out to the "world famous" Charlie Trotter's. I had read so much about the place, I thought it ranked up with Victor Hugo in Paris or some equally famous and qualified restaurant. Wrong-O! The draw, I have come to conclude is that no... more

Memorable only in that we were completely underwhelmed by and disappointed in the food, service and atmosphere. Can't recall a single course (out of seven). Overrated and overpriced. more
