We came with the greatest of expectations. THE Charlie Trotter's! It was awful. First, this "elegant" restaurant has the atmosphere of a diner. It was not elegant, plush, rich or subtle--the things we have come to expect in great restaurants. The food was very good, but the portions were so small we had to stop for food on the way... more

My husband and I are foodies. We have traveled a lot and enjoy dining in different cities. I surprised my husband with a weekend getaway to Chicago for his 31st birthday and wanted his birthday dinner to be a memorable one... well, it was but not in a good way! The food was excellent but it felt a little bit like a factory. Early seating, dish after dish, then out to make room for the next seating. The room had no windows. The food experience was great but not really the dining experience more
