Stayed at the Palmer House and walked to the nearby Italian Village like thousands of tourists have done over the years. We went to the 2nd floor room, the VIllage? Short wait, vibrant room, very nice staff. Here's why you would want to go here: It is a throwback to what must have been an exotic dining place back in... more

I have been a patron of the Italian Village for more than 5 years. I have always been treated with the utmost respect. I leave the restaurant happily satisfied and confident that it didn't put a dent in my wallet. The salad that they mix and serve table side is a great touch! Look forward to them being around another... more

I visited this restaurant for lunch with a family group of 6 in September 2009. The bill was extortionate for the simple lunch that we ordered, largely due to the fact that the house wine (a VERY average Pino Grigio) unexpectedly came in at $56. When we asked to discuss this with the waiter he didn't want to know, and... more

My wife and I ate in the top-floor restaurant, The Village, for dinner during a recent stay in Chicago. They do not take reservations for parties of two, but we were seated immediately in the busy dining area. A few words about The Village; it is decorated like an old Northern Italian village, with stucco walls, faux turning water pump... more

I dined here with my two kids - aged 9 & 11 over Memorial Day weekend. I thought the Ambiance was great - true Italian. The staff was very friendly and accomodating from the time we walked in without a reservation (we stumbled upon the place) to the very nice wait staff. I did not feel out of place with... more

My wife and I decided to book a reservation at the La Cantina Enoteca located on the lowest level of the Italian Village. The staff were extraordinarily friendly, and saw us immediately to our seats. The decor was traditional Italian. The menu was extraordinarily diverse, and the prices were very fair. If you like traditional Italian, I highly recommend you... more

Stopped in to this restaurant on a whim, and was pleasantly surprised. We ate on the main level (not sure which restaurant that was of their 3). My friend and I weren't very hungry, so we asked whether we could split a salad and an entree. The staff accommodated our request with no objections (half portions of the entrees are... more

You won't be disappointed here. Great Italian dining in a cozy, classic atmosphere. We dined on the top floor. Thought the prices were a tad high, but try to remember this is downtown Chicago. A full meal for three with a couple of beers and tip was about 80.00. Our waiter was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and accomodating. We dined... more

The worst Italian food I've had in my life. Terrible food quality, my friend had eggplant parmigiana which was tasteless and not fresh at all and I had linguine with shrimp and broccoli and have been two days sick after that and haven't been able to eat. (And it was definitely the shrimp that got me sick) The kitschier-than-kitsch ambience... more
