Lots of beautful people and a great buzz....but food is poor as others have said. I sent my ribs back (dry, tough no flavour). Will go again - but probably just for drinks. Pizza ws OK. more

Maybe not the place for a light lunch unless you just want soup, but our food was outstanding! The soups (tomato bisque--their specialty--and the soup-of-the-day cream of mushroom) were excellent, and the sandwiches were large and tasty (especially the Portabello mushroom). The Tavern is the social hang out on the Gold Coast. Here's the ironic part - the food is actually good. While the purist may not consider The Tavern's steaks as good as Gibson's - the hopping bar scene plus the delectable food makes up for it. Recently visited the Tavern on Rush when I was in Chicago. I went for an early lunch and ate in the downstairs lounge area. The food and service were both great. Classic Chicago steak house. Loud and full of overweight middle aged males. Good steak but atmosphere not really for me. Service half-hearted. more

Really fun place. Especially for 30-40 somethings. Downstairs has a very happening bar and the upstair restaurant is a great dining experience. Great service and terrific food. Right in the middle of Rush Street and has great outdoor dining as well. more
