Ate here last night with a group of 10 - was recommended by the hotel (Hilton Suites) down the street. There are plenty of steak houses in Chicago. I have had better all over the country. The place has great ambience, average service and food that does not live up to the price. I have paid this much and more for meals but at the end of the evening, I wished I had spent $150 somewhere else. more
Very good, fairly priced steakhouse with excellent service that FLW would have loved. Sit towards the back in the center for great feeling. The house Cabernet Sauvignon, at $6 is great (probably better better than most of the overpriced (4x retail) wines on the list. We chose to go to the Saloon Steakhouse after reading the reviews on this website. Our experience obviously was not as good as some of the other reviewers. I went with a group of four Saturday night. The service was excellent. The wine list was okay. Everything else was extremely mediocre. I was really disappointed as I had read very good things about the Saloon. I have eaten at The Chicago Chop House and Gibson's and was expecting something at least on that level. After reading so many positive reviews, I decided to try out Saloon Steakhouse this Sunday while on a business trip. I will say, the service is outstanding. I found this a nice place to stop for LUNCH after shopping (or rather browsing!!!!) Michigan Ave. A reasonably priced place to relax, sit down, & be waited on.
