I think this place tries hard to be just as I described in my review title. They succeed on all three counts too. Reminds me a bit of the Cheesecake Factory in terms of the interior and the fact that the portions are very large. My garden omelet was just okay (the eggs were a little rubbery), but the warm beignets were heavenly! more

Went for dinner and found the place amazing, the decor was really over the top. The food was great also, The Carbonaro was fantastic. Some say it is overpriced but I did not see it. My wife and had a drink each, two entrees, and we split a dessert for $76. That is not bad for Chicago. more
We had breakfast at the Lux on Sat. and Sun. mornings of our anniversary weekend in Chicago. It is absolutely gorgeous inside and there are several areas with different ambiances. I was somewhat impressed with the interior design, but as for the food, I was as impressed. I had the Salisbury Chopped Steak. I felt like it was close to eating a well cooked Meat Loaf. Over all, I thought it was pricey. more

We ate breakfast at Grand Lux on Saturday (which was excellent) and saw that pastries and other desserts, so we decided to try the dessert on Sunday night. WOW. The creme brulee was outstanding. Will be back. more
Excellent food, terrific atmosphere, and great value made our visit to the Grand Lux a very enjoyable experience.
