It would depend when you are coming. If it is this summer, I would say the Chicago Cubs. (Baseball).
hi
We are going to be there from Aug 22nd. Is it easy to get tickets?
we are coming from England?
Our baseball teams:
Which one is the best?
Cubs games are more fun, in my opinion. Ballpark and area immediately surrounding Wrigley Field are worth the trip. Many of the Cubs games are sold out, but you can almost always buy tickets outside the ballpark (you'll pay more than face value, however).
Are you leaving the 25th or the 26th? If the 25th, then the decision is easy, as only the Sox will be playing in town. The game on the 22nd itself (yes, I know you're arriving that day) is at 6:05, earlier than usual, and is followed by fireworks, usually a very good show. Would still get out early enough for you to party later that evening. Sunday game is at 1:05. Cubs play at 7:05 on Tuesday evening. See what works best with your schedule and go from there. You will have a fine time either way.
You can get to either ballpark from downtown on the CTA red line train. www.transitchicago.com for details. There's a trip planner on the homepage.
Fun can be had at either ballpark. I think that you will have more fun going to a Cubs game if possible. The field is one of the oldest in baseball and seen by many across the country as the best place to see a baseball game on a summer day. Unfortunately, the Cubs are out of town until the 25th (there are tickets available directly from the Cubs still) and from a prior post, I think that you are leaving on the 25th.
The White Sox are in town the 22nd and 23rd and tickets are readily available. It is just that there is not nearly as much to do after a Sox game like there is after a Cubs game.
The good news is that both ballparks are easily assessable via the public transportation Red Line.
Oddly, there are a lot of Cubs tickets available at face value on the Cubs website (cubs.mlb.com) for a lot of dates that didn't have availability earlier in the year. The Tuesday night game (vs. Washington, August 25th at 7:05PM) has lots of choices available.
There are even Bleacher seats available for this Sunday (July 5) vs. Milwaukee. Bleachers are usually the first to sell out; Milwaukee is a close division rival, and it's a weekend. Go figure. All I can imagine is that the Cubs "premium ticket services" (i.e., sanctioned scalpers) returned a bunch of tickets to the regular box office.
As someone else has already pointed out, it will depend on which baseball team is in town during your visit. It's rare(it happens for a short time a once or twice a year, aside from when they play each other) for both teams to be town at the same time. You can do the same things after a Sox game as a Cubs if you just jump back on the train for a short ride back downtown. Here is a link to Sox tickets. Just click on the little T for tickets on whatever date you want.

If you aren't aware, what we call football in America might be different from what you call it in England. If I'm not mistaken, what you call football in England, we call soccer in the US. If you want American football the Chicgo Bears have a preseason home game on Aug 22 at 8 pm. I'm not sure when the tickets go on sale for that but, here is a link.

If you want American Soccer the Chicago Fire have a home game on Aug 23 at 5 pm. Here is a link for tickets to that.
