First Midwest Amphitheatre (old tweeter center in Tinely)

Has any one been to a concert here? I can't find out much info on their website. The map of the venue looks like it is indoors but they talk about lawn seats too. Is this an indoor or an outdoor complex?? I have seats in section 104 row HH and can't deterine if that is on the floor, lawn, first tier or what. Any insight would be helpful...thanks

It is a covered venue with additional uncovered lawn seating - or at least that was the situation when I last went there last a while back. I can't imagine the general structure is much different these days. It'd be nice if they changed the name back to the World Music Theatre. The First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre doesn't exactly have the same ring to it.

If you have a numbered seat like that, I would think that you're not out on the lawn.

It's been a gazillion years since I've been there, I think it was still the New World back then, gotta love corporate sponsorship! Here's a link to some specifics of the theater, it is an outdoor venue. If I remember correctly the lawn seats were uncovered but the pavillion seats were covered. Lawn would not have a seat number. Section 104 looks like it would be to the left, HH 34 rows back?

I didn't think New World sounded right, World Music Theater was what it was :-)

I saw Bruce Springsteen there a few weeks ago. The seats you are referring to are on the main floor. Here's a link with a seating chart -http://www.livenation.com/search/intermediateSearch/searchstring/first%20midwest%20bank

As previously noted, it's outdoors, but the pavillion is covered. There are lawn seats at the rear, but they're not always used.

The sound system was pretty good. As in most venues, overpriced food and drink. Note, the parking lot is gravel. don't plan on washing your car until after the concert.

I used to work Security there. You actually have pretty good seats. Seats in 104 HH are just to the left of the stage. The first row is A going up alphabetically, however, section 104 has two to four rows removed for handicap seating. There are two sections of pavilion seating, sky box seating and lawn seats.

It is outdoor amplitheater. However, it the only one in the country to have a skybox section. The roof covers the entire seating area. However, on a really raniny night rain can hit you on those side sections (so you should be good).

I noticed that you are from Minneapolis. If you are looking for a place to stay, I would try Tinley Park, Orland, Monee and New Lenox. I would caution you from looking too far east for a room if you are not familiar with the area. It can get a little rough in some parts.

Well I ended up buying tkts that are in section 105 row AA --I'm hoping its not too far off to the side of the stage???

Also, I am planning on staying in Chicago for a long weekend. What is the best way to get from Downtown (miracle mile area) to the concert. How far away is it???

Scroll to the bottom of the page for driving directions. Note: allow extra time due to road construction. Depending on the time and day of the week - allow 90 minutes from downtown.

Thanks, I have visited that website. Although I have viewed the seating diagram it is still difficult to "visualize." I did see the driving directions but as I am not familiar with the city I don't know how far away it is. I will not have a car. Is there public transportation? I was thinking of taking a taxi but if its 90 min I can't imagine how expensive that would be?

You can take a Metra train from downtown to Tinley Park and a cab from the train station to First Midwest. Here's the details - http://metrarail.com/Sched/ri/ri.shtml

A cab to/from downtown Chicago to Tinley Park is very expensive.

Thanks Dave--is the train safe though to take back to downtown late at night?
