Here's the PRO, but be sure to read the CON at the end.
Tour date: 11:00 am on the beautiful Sunday morning of 6/21. Booked the tour on line the night before when we discovered our previous plans to see the city had been cancelled.
Our small group of 7 had Jen as our guide. She was super informative on the neighborhoods, architecture, foods we were going to be tasting etc.
Started at Ashkenaz Deli where we tasted a reuben, moved on to the Spice House where we got a little lesson on Cinnamon (never knew there was more than one), got a very refreshing iced tea and fantastic presentation from the young lady at Tea Gschwendner, tasted some very unusual combinations of vinegars and oils in the Old Town Oil shop, loved the milk chocolate toffee samples we were given at the Fudge Pot, but the best part was the Chicago Deep dish pizza with spinach which we had at our final stop Bacino's. Never had deep dish before, and didn't think I'd like it, and ended up cleaning my plate.
Tour was good and would recommend to visitors.
CON: THIS I THINK IS A BIGGIE. IT'S ADVERTISED AS MODERATE WALKING PACE, but I thought it was much quicker thatn that. In my reservation when it asked for concerns or something, I said I would be with my Mom who is 78, and I think in good shape. Although she made it, she really struggled to keep up with the group which made it difficult to hear everything being told about the buildings and the areas. I'd be very cautious of this.
Also, not sure what the purpose of stopping in tthe Catering Chocolate Gourmet Food Store was.
