My family had been planning this visit for a while, and the day we decided to go on was actually a Community Day, so general admission was free and the wait in line was two hours long. We traveled quite a few hours to Chicago, so decided that we might as well wait it out and see what all the excitement was about.
NOW, I know there is nothing worth waiting for if it takes that long. The aquarium was overly crowded, and I'm pretty sure exceeded capacity or close to it. I'm appalled at how Shedd Aquarium would allow this many people into such a crowded and tight area. All I know is my family and children did not enjoy it at all. There were way too many people that they lost interest as soon as we stepped inside. Less than five minutes inside, we were on our way out the door. Horrible experience!
If you enjoy seeing exhibits of people's heads, rude staff members that don't give you the time of day, being split up from your family, and like to be herded like animals, then this is your place! (Keep in mind, we went on a Community Day, unfortunately, so I don't know what the experience is like on a regular day). But, I would never go again, even if it was free and not crowded anymore because Shedd did not give me a positive experience.
