The Adler Planetarium is a great planetarium, with many wonderful exhibits. But when we visited in summer '06 the employees were really rude. It was as if it would have killed them to smile at some weary travelers. And the cafeteria was overpriced and very limited. With the great exhibits and so much to offer, it is a real shame that the folks that one must deal with during a visit don't make more of an effort to be pleasant.

Having been to the Field and the Museum of Science and Industry in early June of this year I would say without reservation that this is the best of the 3. It has exhibits that are informative and up to date (the permenant exhibits at the Field and the MSI both have many displays that are in disrepair and have out of date information). It has a large display of objects used for navigation (compasses, sextants, astrolabes, etc) that are presented with their place in history. Many interactive displays. The view of the Chicago skyline is also very good. It was as good as you can get and still be on dry land. The food is also quite good and significantly better than the affore mentioned other 2 museums. (The Field's offering is a McDonalds!) City buses drop you off right at the enterance and surface parking is closeby.

Went there this 4th of July weekend ( 07/03/05), I guess I have been pampered by the Field Museum and the Science & Industry Museums, but i do not think this was worth the $22! Upstairs was basically BORING! Spent 30 minutes there and almost fell asleep. Thank God that was all we had to wait for the movie, the OmniMax movie was awesome but still $22 is too much to pay for just a movie and a small museum, if you have time go to any of the other 3! Specially Bodyworlds @ The Science Museum, spent 2 hours just on that exhibit!
