Staying at Springhill Suites was a treat. Only a few months old this hotel's location was great - about 3 minute walk to Michigan Avenue and lots of restaurants and bars nearby. It was across from the "House of Blues" and right next door to the Westin River North.
Check-in was a breeze. The staff was friendly and very efficient. Parking was a bit steep at $42/day. If you have time and patience - you might want to drive around and look for a parking lot cheaper than this.
Their hot breakfast buffet was ample - with a waffle station, sausages, eggs, a variety of breads/pastries, fruits, juices and coffee/tea/hot cocoa.
It was a bit odd that the "Check-in Lobby" was a floor up, and that it shared also the main lobby of the Residence Inn. As you exit the elevator, Springhill was on the left and Residence inn was to the right.
The rooms were spacious and very clean. There was a flat screen TV that was conveniently positioned to be view from either the bed or the "living room" area. The comfy L shaped couch doubled as a sofa bed too. Beds are comparable to Westin's Heavenly bed. The suite had a coffee maker, microwave and a refrigerator.
We had free WiFi for 24 hours and that was very convenient. We got a discounted rate of $159 per night from Marriott's website.
We were very happy with the Springhill Suites and would definitely stay there again!
