I love it! Great for people watching. Love the shops, the buildings, the restaurants, the energy.
My husband and I went Labor day weekend.
Very crowded. A lot of street performers, three on some blocks.
Of course, crowds gather around to watch, which makes these areas slow to walk through.
When we got off the Mag Mile, my husband says "I am not going back on that crazy street."
I cracked up and told him I was putting that on my review.
and of course, we did go back on that "crazy street", just not that night.

Tons of shops, lots to see, lovely walk and beautiful at night

I could sit and watch the beautiful ladies on Magnificient Mile all day long. The upscale shops must bring out the best-looking Chicago has to offer. The restaurants in the area are also terrific as there are options for every budget and taste. For the budget conscious, I would recommend Portillo's, terrific Italian sandwiches and Chicago-style hot dogs. Don't pass up on their Chocolate cake shake.
I wasn't too thrilled about the shops, but if you have money to burn, then you'll be ecstatic about this area.

A few years ago my wife and I began going to Chicago for some pre-holiday shopping on the Magnificent Mile. Great dining, great shopping, and the lighting festival all in a fantastic city - at a wonderful time of year! We keep threatening to switch to New York some year, but as Fall arrives, we start talking about "last" year's trip, and can't bring ourselves to change. This is a nice, short trip for couples with hectic schedules, and really helps to set the tone for the holidays. One walk under the lights after a fantastic dinner, and you'll ask yourselves why you don't do things like this more often.
