I stayed at this property October 26-28th. I would love to give it a good review since it had a lot going for it. I'll start with the positives. The location provides easy access to restaurants and shops on State Street. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and the bedding comfortable. The breakfast was fair, with ample bagels, donuts, english muffins, fresh fruit and juice, along with one warm breakfast item each morning. The first morning there was some egg, meat and cheese deal on what looked like a half bagel. It was so-so. The second morning they had waffles, which looked like the frozen kind. I didn't try them. Now for the negatives. As others have mentioned, the fire station is right across the street from the hotel. Even though I made sure our room was on the opposite side, the sirens were loud and plentiful. Additionally, our room was at the end of the hall (room 430), and right below the windows were the air conditioning units for the pool. They ran pretty constantly the whole time the pool was open. Worse than that was the alley below where the neighboring restaurants dumped their trash. All day and into the wee hours of the morning you could hear the trash being dumped, glass breaking and the trash compactors going. With my ear plugs and a pillow over my head, I could muffle the sound enough to get some sleep. So, sadly, I will not stay here again next time I am in Chicago.
