I really liked this hotel and it was one of the cheaper alternatives! Chicago hotels really are at a premium I found. This one was comfortable, very central with big rooms and helpful staff. You're right in the Near North area which is full of good restaurants and bars. I recommend the nearby Mexican place, Frontera Grill. One issue though is the fire station next door. It didn't keep me awake but I can see how it would disturb some people. Reception give out free earplugs if you want them though! Breakfast was simple but decent enough, and free so even better.

We stayed three nights in a “large corner suite”. These suites a very spacious with a large bedroom with separate sink, large bathroom (with two entrances), living room area with a decent pullout coach, full kitchen and a dining area. We had ample of space for a family of four. Although the room was clean it showed signs of wear. Baseboard heater covers falling off, tiles and walls at foot level damaged, and a garbage disposal that was very out of balance and was loud as a jackhammer.

The hotel was very nice and clean and has a friendly staff. The facilities are nice and the breakfast was decent. The location was great and centrally located. Considering Chicago hotel prices, for the price we paid it was a good value.

Many reviews of this hotel mention the fire station noise. It is true, but the numbers of calls vary per night, and when they did leave the station they moved quickly and the siren noise faded fast. We did use earplugs and this did help. My heavy sleeping son slept on the couch next to the window nearest the fire station and he did not wake once.

NOTE: All corner suites are located across from the fire station. Other categories of rooms have some locations on the opposite of the building.

Couldn't have asked for a better, more courteous, helpful staff. Were there for a week. Everything was great!

We decided to take a few day long trip to Chicago over Easter break. We decided on the Hampton Inn since the prices were good. We arrived and got our room......That night, we put our kids to bed on the sofa bed. It was so bent that they were rolling into the middle. Our bed was okay but a bit on the hard side. Thank God we brought the air bed. The "breakfast" was good enough for a continental breakfast. The noise.....PEOPLE....listen to the reviews. Hampton Inn is literally 2 doors down from the Chicago Fire dept. While they do offer ear plugs, does it really help? The day we left, I snagged a luggage cart. We would be leaving in a short while. Little did I know that the hotel ONLY has 2 luggage carts. THAT IS IT......2. The doorman yelled at me for taking the cart hostage for what he said was 2 hrs....NOT. I did not have the cart for 2 hrs. So,I guess we will NOT be staying there again.
