For a reasonably priced hotel in downtown Chicago, this place is hard to beat. The rooms are smallish, but clean and recently updated. The bed in my room was extremely comfortable, there was a fridge and microwave, a great office chair, and a well designed bathroom. The staff were universally excellent, especially the valet parking guys, who deserve special praise for being friendly, quick and efficient.
One quibble: no Wi-Fi in the rooms, just an Ethernet connection with a cable that doesn't very far past the desk. On the positive side, there's a 24-hour business centre that allows guests to print documents either on site or from their rooms. Also, the heater is pretty noisy, so if you tend to be cold at night and are also sensitive to white noise, this may not be the place for you.
Breakfast at Weber's downstairs is an extortionate $15, and Mary's Diner down the street serves bland and greasy food. There's a Starbucks in the lobby that's open only in the morning, another around the corner that's open all day long, and a local chain called Cosí a block east, which serves breakfast bagels, etc. Not a gourmet experience, but definitely edible. Otherwise the location is fantastic -- within walking distance of all the attractions of the Magnificent Mile, easy access to the El, etc.
I'd definitely stay here again.
