The Monaco is friendly, stylish, clean and well located. Don't let the weird facade fool you- I was disappointed as we pulled up but inside is very well decorated and the staff could not have been nicer. The room was large with excellent furnishings, clean, and surprisingly quiet considering the hotel is located pretty much on a hectic corner in the Loop. Walking distance to the Art Institute, Millennium Park, Michigan Ave shopping, theaters, restaurants. The wine hour is pleasant and the 1 dollar upgrade for a continental breakfast is well worth it- large fresh fruit plate plus pastry-
The little window seats are very cool. Great beds and linen, nice big bathroom, fantastic robes in the large closet too.

This hotel is one of the best I have stayed in. The location is great, just a short walk to Michigan Ave. The rooms are HUGE! Biggest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Great decor and ambiance within the hotel. There is a wine hour between 5-6pm where all residents can make the most of free wine, snacks and there is also a Wii console to use within this hour. This is a great way to meet other travellers and enjoy the beautiful hotel. I would definately reccoment this hotel. There is a gym, however it is small. The attached bar/ restaurant is also very nice. Free breakfast bars are also available on the rception desk - I have never been in a hotel that gives so much free things! Suitable for all. Dogs are even allowed!

This was my first time in Chicago and wanted a hotel that was in a good location. This definitely fit the bill. I could walk to all the places I wanted to see - very close to Michigan Ave and the Magnificent Mile. About a 15 minute walk to the Art Institute.

The hotel staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. There was coffee in the lobby every morning, that was very welcome. The room was comfortable and clean and fairly quiet. I could hear the train and some traffic from the street (considering the location, this wasn't bad and didn't affect my ability to sleep or relax).

I would definitely recommend this hotel - a gem!!

We had a top-floor suite at the Monaco during Fourth of July weekend and loved it. The suite was very large with a comfortable bed, jacuzzi, two large flat screen tvs and a sleeper sofa for the kids. Our girls loved the huge window seats overlooking the river. The staff was very friendly, prompt and helpful. They gave the kids stuffed animals when we checked in and brought up a pet goldfish for us during our stay. The location was fantastic, right off Wacker across from Marina City on the river. We were in manageable walking distance to lots of kid-friendly spots: the American Girl Store, the Rain Forest Cafe, Cheesecake Factory, Hershey Store, Portillos, Millennium Park, the Art Institute and plenty of pizza places. The museum complex was also a short train ride away and it was easy to find a bus to take to Navy Pier. You couldn't see the fireworks from the hotel but we only had to walk a couple blocks to see them from the street. On the whole, I'd highly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I LOVED our stay at the Hotel Monaco. The location is fabulous - right downtown in the loop and close to everything - including El stops. The room was great. We both LOVED the window seats. I could just sit up in there and read and look out over the city and the river. There were a couple of parts of the hotel that looked a little "worn" - for instance the entryway (the carpet, etc.), looked a little "old". But, all in all - it was a great place. I appreciated the free Starbucks coffee in the morning and the free evening reception, although we only got to go to that once. In short - Chicago is an amazing city and Hotel Monaco was great!
