If you stay just a short walk around the corner is a great pizza place called Excheckers.

We arrived at 11pm to be told thatwe had a double room reserved when in fact we had reserved a twin room .We were then informed that they were fully booked and they could not guarentee us a twin room the next day untill 5pm.We were told it was the fault of our travel agent but as all the other hotels we had used on our holiday had been twins i have my doubts.The manager said we could have put up beds in one of the suites for the night and aftera 12 hour flight i was not in the mood to argue.it can only be described as a very plush meeting room.we finally got our very small twin room the following day.Have contacted our travel agent but no responce as yet.On the upside Loved Chicago but woud not stay at the Palmer House again.

This place is very lovely and comfortable. Staff is kind, location outstanding. We stayed for 3 nights and we could walk to many places from here. The room service is wonderful and yummy!

I remember staying at the Palmer House about 10 years ago and thinking it was pretty run down. Not anymore. Very nicely decorated and conveniently located in Downtown. It's a pleasure to walk around the town in the summertime.

The rooms are quaint and clean and quiet (I had the last room on the corridor). I liked that the windows actually opened. Suprisingly, the bank of elevators accomodated our large group and I was never late.
The food in the hotel was very good with many selections and the room service was more than prompt. The front desk staff was efficient and friendly.

My only complaint was the bed was hard and I couldn't sleep more than a few hours. Other than that, The Palmer House was better than I expected.
