My husband and I came up for the weekend and had a great time. The hotel was beautiful, clean, and the staff was wonderful. The room was nice and clean as well and we will definetly return if the price is right (88.00 on hotwire.com). The only complaint I would have is that the room walls were not very insulated and we could hear the overly loud people in the room next door. However I called the front desk to complain and they sent security right up and we didn't hear anything the rest of the night. This is close to many of the great attractions and was within walking distance of everything. Great views to boot!!!

I've stayed at the Swissotel for several years whilst on business in Chicago - staying there on average 3 to 4 times a year. The location of the hotel is perfect for shopping and local bars/restaurants on the golden mile, and views from most rooms very good. The hotel has recently undergone a refurbishment to both bedrooms and lobby area. The bedrooms have been modernised and feature a large flat-screen tv, however I couldn't get mine to work....it turned out the wrong remote had been supplied!! This problem was subsequently rectified and the remote replaced. Ordering soup on room service will set you back around $20 +, with the tray charge, service charge and taxes making up the bulk of it. With the refurbishment of the lobby, the hotel have done away with the lobby gift shop. As I arrived very late in the evening after a long journey, I was tempted by the mini-bar and had a chocolate bar (snickers) which came to $5.22!!! For the location and comfort of the new rooms, this is the perfect hotel, however come armed with your credit card as they appear to be funding the refurbishment through room service and mini bar charges, not to mention the room rates.....

We found a promotional deal so our rate was fantastic. The location and the room were perfect for my wife and I. Some nice extras and the staff was very professional and most helpful. Great pool and gym, though it was extra, because of our rate I assume. Great views to the river and the lake. Can't comment on the restaurants, but there is plenty within walking distance.

Although my stay was only 2 nights/3 days, I have stayed at the Swissotel on business in the past. I compliment the hotel staff on their professionalism, their friendliness and their attention to detail. My room was spotless at check-in and maintained that way throughout. The business center attendant worked above and beyond to help me and my colleague with printing and faxes documents for work. The concierge (there were 2) staff was helpful and steered us in the direction of a great restaurant we could walk to. The location is good as there are numerous restaurants and businesses nearby...no taxi necessary if you like to walk. I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone. Although I didn't use the fitness center this time, I did use it in my prior stay. I agree with other reviewers that the use of this center should be at no additional charge.
Overall, excellent stay and beautiful hotel.
