Had a great time at the hostel in Chicago. As far as hostels in the US go this one of the most well-equipped and pro-active in terms of organising activities. The volunteer organisers were enthusastic and took us on a fab night out where I met loads of new people. There was also a brilliant information area with literature and advisors.
It's a massive place. i was lucky to be put in a room with only 1 set of bunk beds and got on well with my room-mate. There was a spacious common area outside the room. The neighbours were a bit rowdy but obviously that's nothing against the hostel.
Breakfast was good. There were several internet points. Only downside was the noisy train line straight outside the window which led to sleepless nights.

Inside it's a nice hostel, clean and friendly. However I had a room that faced onto the "El" train line, which was very loud almost all night long. And it cost me $27!!!!! to park across the street-- and that was a discounted rate! If you ask for a room away from the El, and don't have to park a car, it would be fine.

We found this place by the information point on O'Hare Intl. Airport.
It's good location (walking distance from: Millenium Park, Aquarium, Sears Tower, Greyhound station...)
There is a good bagel factory on the cornen.
The staff were very heplfull.
The price was a bit high (if you compare with other hostel prices)
I absolutely recommend this place to young persons.

We stayed at the HI Chicago right after Christmas till after New Years. It is in a great location, right downtown, near busses to get everywhere. The place itself is really eclectic, clean, and was really quiet and relaxing given the time of year we visited. Nice Kitchen and other common areas.

This is a decent enough hostel. Property is in very good condition and there is free internet in the lobby area. There is also games like ping pong, a pool table and table football to play.

Despite the decent amenities the atmosphere in the hostel is quite mooted. I'm more used to hostels where groups of people head out at night time to clubs and bars. This is definitely a more family non drinking oriented hostel.

Despite that, its still good value for the money.
