My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Affinia Chicago and absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms were very modern, it did feel like a suite. The bed area was set a few steps down from the refrigerator and bathroom - everything was very clean and comfortable. The concierge helped us with finding restaurants and sights and the bartender at the rooftop restaurant recommended an awesome blues club.
The location is good, we are walkers, so we had no problem taking our time to walk around the city. The only problem in the area that we encountered was that we arrived late on a Friday night - around 11pm - and it took us quite a while to find a restaurant in the area that was open and still serving dinner (not just bar food). Many of the restaurants in the immediate area were shutting down, which was a surprise to us since we're used to restaurants being open quite late. We did manage to find a place, though, that was open 'till 4am, but the owner informed us that he believes he is one of two restaurants open that late in the area.
Our only complaint within the hotel itself was that only half the elevators were working which meant that we had to wait quite a while to go up and down to our room on the 23rd floor. This also meant that when the elevators did come, they were uncomfortably packed and definitely often above the posted capacity, which made me a little nervous.
We would definitely return to Affinia Chicago based on our experience, however it is more expensive then we usually pay - but we were able to find it "on sale" on some discount websites.
