A few friends and I were at the Affinia for the 2009 Taste of Chicago, and our stay was absolutely wonderful! The hotel has a great location. It is a block away from Michigan Avenue, so the shops, movie theater, and restaurants are all nearby. The hotel provides a free trolley to and from Navy Pier on the weekends, but even Navy Pier is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
The rooms are clean and the use of space is very functional. The C-View bar/lounge on the top floor makes for a nice place to hangout during the social hour, or in the evening for a nightcap.
The staff is very helpful and accommodating. Overall, it is a great place!

The suite we had was perfect. Bed really comfy and you get to choose from 5 or 6 different pillows. Half block to Magnificent Mile. Parking was high but so is everything in the area. Victor, one of the bellman was a real hoot and made us feel very welcome. I will definitely go back.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Affinia Chicago and absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms were very modern, it did feel like a suite. The bed area was set a few steps down from the refrigerator and bathroom - everything was very clean and comfortable. The concierge helped us with finding restaurants and sights and the bartender at the rooftop restaurant recommended an awesome blues club.

The location is good, we are walkers, so we had no problem taking our time to walk around the city. The only problem in the area that we encountered was that we arrived late on a Friday night - around 11pm - and it took us quite a while to find a restaurant in the area that was open and still serving dinner (not just bar food). Many of the restaurants in the immediate area were shutting down, which was a surprise to us since we're used to restaurants being open quite late. We did manage to find a place, though, that was open 'till 4am, but the owner informed us that he believes he is one of two restaurants open that late in the area.

Our only complaint within the hotel itself was that only half the elevators were working which meant that we had to wait quite a while to go up and down to our room on the 23rd floor. This also meant that when the elevators did come, they were uncomfortably packed and definitely often above the posted capacity, which made me a little nervous.

We would definitely return to Affinia Chicago based on our experience, however it is more expensive then we usually pay - but we were able to find it "on sale" on some discount websites.

Great location and the service was perfect! We had a junior suite which was huge- 2 king beds plus hug bath and sitting area... ask for this room! Christopher, the conceige, was so helpful and friendly;.. he called me by name everytime we came into the lobby. Such a special feeling in this place... they also have a lovely bar on the rooftop. It's small, and just beautiful. Danielle was a server the evening we were there and she made us feel right at home.

I have nothing but great things to say about this place. Parking is expensive at 48 / day, but you could self park and walk down to hotel about 3 blocks away. for about half the price.. We opted to stay in hotel parking as it was easier.

Every summer for July 3rd, my boyfriend and I book a hotel in the city for the Holiday weekend and enjoy spending time with our closest friends. Each year we try a different hotel, and this year decided to give the Affinia a try, because of the awesome room layouts we saw posted online. Despite some negative reviews about long elavator waits, small rooms, and over bookings, we booked our stay regardless.

WE WERE SO SATISFIED!!! Our room was on the third floor - room 305. When we opened the door for the first time, we were shocked to see the layout was nothing like what was pictured online (keep in mind this was a corner room). Instead this room was the length of a bowling alley!!! Huge and long! Everything was clean, fresh and well kept. Our bathroom was very trendy, and resembled a mini nightclub with a awesome mirror and colorful wall decor.

Besides our satisfaction with the room, we wandered to the 29th floor where we found a rooftop bar and lounge. They had a DJ playing dance hits till 2am. Although the drinks were quite pricey, the fun and scenic views of Chicago made up for it.

Most importantly, during our entire stay we were treated like KINGS AND QUEENS. Catered to whenever needed. They even have a pillow menu. Choose from like 10 types of pillows, memory foam was my favorite, but they also have magnetic pillows, down pillows, audio pillows with built in IPOD jacks, and MORE.

Not only that but the Customer Service.......AMAZING. Christopher, our concierge who was there on both Friday and Saturday was so nice and extremely helpful. Right next door, we found Gino's East Pizzeria. For some reason, Gino's had a apprx. 100 person line wrapped around the building all day. With Christoper's help, we were able to cut the line and get seated within FIVE minutes! Service was exceptional and the food very good!
Throughout our stay Christoper asked us if we needed anything, on one occasion even filling up our water bottles. It was raining when we left and I asked Christopher for a bag so that I wouldn't get wet when we walked to the parking garage. With no hesitation, Christoper went into the hotel and came out with a complimentary Affinia Hotel umbrella for me to have free of charge! We have stayed at a lot of hotels but have never have customer service like this!

I reccomend this hotel to anyone, looking for a relaxing romantic stay or a fun getway.

Thank you Christopher for a great stay at the Affinia Hotel Chicago!
