Wow! This museum rocks. The description of this museum on Tripadvisor
is accurate. The focus is completely on the art and not on the building. The exhibits are arranged well. The museum must have some of the best curators around. The galleries have a short but incisive explanation for the different exhibits from the one on conceptual art to the photographs on the fourth floor. The tour guides did a wonderful job describing the art of Rudolf Stingel. There was also an additional tour for the photographs. My favorite exhibits were the ones that made use of videos. I don't think I will ever listen to Bach in the same way again. Shirin Neshat's "Turbulent" was mesmerizing to watch and listen to. This museum is well worth the $10
admission fee.

The Chicago Contemporary Art museum definently isn't an experience like MOMA (Museum of Modern Art in New York City). I saw lots of interesting pieces. The museum has a small collection but has lots of travelling exhibition space. The staff was very helpful and polite. The Cafe looked nice and clean, however I can't comment on the food because I didn't purchase any food or drinks. The gift shop was nice, like any typical art museum shop. I found it a bit pricey becasue a postcard was $.85 (plus tax). They do accept reciprical membership cards from other art museums in North America, so be sure to check. Student discounts are avalaible provided you show a valid student ID card. I will return next time I am in the Chicago area.

Inside this dreary building, which would have been more at home in East Berlin, you will find some of the most pointless and offensive 'art' displayed anywhere. It is an insult, punctuated with occasional gratuitous obscentities, to a city that also houses one of the finest art museums in the world.

Considering that Chicago is a huge, world class city, this museum has very little to offer the visitor in the way of art. At this museum, I saw several splendid Calder mobiles, some fine Andy Warhol silkscreens, but very else in such a huge building. I love art museums, but this one is a total disappointment.
