Inside this dreary building, which would have been more at home in East Berlin, you will find some of the most pointless and offensive 'art' displayed anywhere. It is an insult, punctuated with occasional gratuitous obscentities, to a city that also houses one of the finest art museums in the world.

Considering that Chicago is a huge, world class city, this museum has very little to offer the visitor in the way of art. At this museum, I saw several splendid Calder mobiles, some fine Andy Warhol silkscreens, but very else in such a huge building. I love art museums, but this one is a total disappointment.

One of the worst art museums in the nation. On the day I went there was nothing from the permanent collection on display. One floor of the museum was closed, and the remaining sections of the museum had so many school children in it. It was difficult to appreciate the temporary exhibit that had been installed. On another note the current temporary exhibit is awful, and offers no insight or descriptions of what was intended. Spend your $10 at the Art Institute and skip the contemporary.

The Museum of Contemporary Art is one of the BEST things to see in Chicago. While I was on vacation last month I spent a lovely afternoon there. I saw an exhibit of contemporary photography and video from China that blew me away. Not only was the art good, but the gift store and restaurant (Puck's) were fantastic too. Definitely will be back on my next trip to Chicago!
