We took the free trolley to The Navy Pier. It is one of Chicago's most
-visited tourist attraction. Admission is free & there is a lot to see & do there. There is a giant Ferris wheel ($5 ride), a carousel ($4 ride) & other rides. There is an Imax Theatre, a Stained Glass Museum, Chicago Children's Museum, fireworks every Fri & Sat & many sightseeing boats: The Tall Ship Windy, Seadog, or water taxi's.

There are also dinner cruises on the Spirit of Chicago, The Odyssey or Mystic Blue Cruises. There are many restaurants such as The Billy Goat Tavern, Bubba Gump, Charlie's Ale House, Capi's Italian Kitchen, Haagen-Dazs, Joe's Be-Bop Cafe or Riva/Riva Cafe. There is also a Food Court that includes American Dog, Ben & Jerry's, Carnelli's Deli, Chicago Cookie Shop, Connie's Pizza, Greek Delight, King Wah Express, Popcorn Palace & Candy Emporium, Starbuck's & Twisted Lizard.

There are many shops selling everything from apparel & accessories, to souvenirs, gifts & collectibles, toys & games. You can also rent bikes & skates or even go on a Segway Tour. There is enough to keep you & the kids busy for the entire day in a nice atmosphere.

This used to be dismissed as "touristy" but then most people who go there are actually tourists! Nowadays it has a diverse choice of things to see and do. Many sails leave from this pier, there is an Imax theatre, endless shops, stalls and choice of foods like churros, popcorn nd ice cream. There are also bars, Joe's Bee Bop Restaurant with really good musicians, and The Museum of Stained Glass Art. You can ride the gently moving Ferris wheel and get great views of the Lake and the city, or just stroll around and admire the views fromthe Pier.

My husband and I went to Chicago for a trade show ,
I had heard about the Navy pier, and wasn't real sure what it was all about.
The first day we arrived we took a water taxi from the shed museum to the Pier,
Upon arriving at the pier I was in Awe...
It was such a beautiful, fun filled place.
On one side there are several different kinds of boats/ships to take out on the beautiful lake Michigan,
From quick casual to fine dining and cruise.
There are bike rentals, and booths were you can get a quick bite,
There is also a wide variety of dining choices , we ate at a small burger joint, the last day we were there,,It wasn't very good.
But there is way better choices like Bubba gumps.
The pier has a few good shopping choices and a beautiful stained glass museum.
The ferris wheel adds to the state fair feel to the pier, and affords beutiful views from the top.
My favorite part is just sitting at the end of the pier and enjoying the view of the lake and sail boats.
The pier is full of history and you can read about it in plaques on the pier.
I just learned that scenes in the new Batman movie were filmed there,
Millions visit every year, and if you are in Chicago it is a must see.

This is a great place to people watch and enjoy a nice stoll, but it wasn't as exciting as we thought it would be. There are plently of places to get something to eat both in doors and out and several places to get a drink, but don't plan on spending more than a couple of hours here.
