we booked this as HiltonHonors (diamond) reward stay, and we were extremely pleasantly surprised that - because all executive rooms were booked - they double or triple upgraded us to the Presidential Suite !!! WOW. what a suite it was indeed. Location of hotel also excellent; lot's of stuff at walking distance. Parking indeed expensive, but it's expensive everywhere downtown chicago. Breakfast was - although the food itself was great - the only poor point of this hotel: it seemed disorganised and there was constantly a line of people "wating to be seated" although there were empty seats abundantly available; one person taking care of that and she did other things in between as well; also we had to wait like 20 minutes for our coffee and then it came twice; i.e. don't go for breakfast if you are in a hurry.
But again, this is truly a great hotel and next time we'll go there again, also as paying customer!

I really enjoyed my stay. I walked to shops and fun Chicago eateries and didn't need to spend lots of money on transportation. The rooms are luxurious and classy.

Some of the negatives of the Conrad are also things that make it nice. By this I mean that it's right smack in the middle of all of the Michgan Ave. shopping action, but it's a little hard to find if you are driving---which makes for a quiet stay---no busy lobby or packed bar. Just classy, upscale elegance. Like the property itself, the rooms are decorated nicely, but on the small side. We had a standard room, which had a view of a nearby office building. If you want to see the lake, you'll need to spring for one of the more expensive rooms and make sure you tell the check in person that you desire a good view. The food in the restaurant is good and the service is too, though breakfast can be a little pricey. Try the cheeseburger from room service. You won't be disappointed.

The hotel is connected by elevator to the adjacent mall. The elevator drops you right next to the entrance to Nordstroms. Again, if you are walking to the hotel, it can be a little hard to find.

If you are looking for a quiet luxury hotel just steps from great shopping, then this is it.

Hotel was very nice, and in a nice location. The room was fairly clean except for a robe in the closet that had red stains on the inside of it, and in the desk drawer there was a comment card left from 4 months prior! I guess the housekeeper did not clean nor look at the drawer since! The front desk service was average.

I booked this hotel under after reading a website that said that the Conrad was one of the most kid friendly hotels in Chicago. It stated that they greeted the kids with cotton candy at check-in and gave them an age appropriate toy. My other deciding factor was the fact that they had a DVD player in each room. I have a 3 year old daughter and she likes to watch "The Incredibles" each night before going to bed. Well, I have to say that the hotel was absolutely beautiful, but there was no cotton candy or toy greeting my daughter at check-in. Oh well, it was not a deal breaker by any means, but I did expect it to be more kid friendly. We actually didn't see any children the entire time we were there. It didn't matter to us, but they also don't have a pool, which could be a downer for those that want one. The room was great, the staff was very helpful and friendly, and the location was right-on! The room was nice and spacious and I didn't hear a peep from anyone the entire 3 nights. I thought that we were the only ones there it was so quiet! If you are looking for a more kid friendly hotel, spend a little extra and go the to the Ritz-Carlton. There is an excellant playground right across the street for them to get some energy out. And from what I hear, they have a cookies and milk turndown service. Don't get me wrong, I would totally book the Conrad again if it was just my husband and I, but I don't know if I would book again for the 3 of us.
