I booked my stay through Hotwire for a conference and was fine with the hotel I 'won'. I have stayed the Club Quarters in San Francisco and expected a small room with limited amenities. I was surprised to see a fridge and microwave in my room. What a nice perk. Unfortunately the bed was horrible---there was a indent that resembled a bowling alley lane in the middle of the bed. And the pillows were so soft my neck hurt the next day.The service was fine (not extraordinary). I definitely recommend for a cheap one night stay.

We stayed here while attending a wedding in July 2005. We knew it was a small, business persons hotel and were pleasantly surprised by the size of our room. The room was spacious for two people and the bathroom was also large. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the L was only a few blocks away.

I am not sure what problems the other reviwers are referencing. I recently stayed at Club Quarters and while I could tell they were renovating the renovation was being handled in a professional manner and I hardly noticed. I am a business traveler and I have experienced far worse renovations. Internet was perfect, felt very secure for downtown Chicago, room was spotless and bed was very comfortable. I could have paid $100 more down the street for a little more room but I felt I got a great value. Morenique and Aaron were incredibly helpful at the front desk.

Renovation of the hallways and lobby? That means dust, fumes, and more dust. No one mentioned this when I booked. After a few nights of coughing, swollen eyes, and no sleep, I moved. Oh, and they shut down the restaurant for a week too with a day's notice. And the internet wasn't working properly so that my outgoing emails weren't being sent some of the time. Was there any offer of reduction in the price? Of course not. For just a few dollars more, I moved less than 2 blocks away to a hotel with a normal sized room, a much more comfortable bed, heat that worked, and really pleasant and helpful staff rather than people who were watching tv while I was talking to them about my problem. Never again - and I've stayed there many times - each time with one problem or another. It's cheap but there's a reason it's cheap. I used to say it was at least clean. Well, not this time.
