After a 15 hour flight and a missed connection and an overnight stay that the airline could not pay for, the last thing I needed was any sort of issue. A call to the hotel to request a shuttle resulted in a 25 minute wait and a shuttle bus that never showed up. Result: A $20.00 cab fare to get to a hotel that was supposed to provide transportation.
The next morning, the shuttle was out front when I was checking out. My business associate was upstairs waiting on the elevator. The shuttle driver was unwilling to wait 60 seconds for the hotel's elevator, insisting that he "was on a schedule". By golly, he climbed in the hotel van and away he went. Requests for intervention by the desk staff were unanswered, my associate arrived 30 seconds after the van left: Result: Another $20 cab ride back to the airport. Adding $40.00 to an already unplanned expense was simply an insult added to injury.
In fairness, having an Outback Steakhouse attached to the hotel was a welcome surprise given that my trip had been to China and a steak was perfect after days of Asian food.
