Stayed at the Sofitel for 2 nights in early December. Although the rates were up for the Christmas season($305/night) the value for this room was much higher than other boutique hotels in the area.(i.e. Whitehall Hotel). The room was on the 32nd floor facing the lake, with full plate-glass making up the exterior wall--Beautiful at night! Block-out window treatments made it dark for sleeping in. The room was somewhat small, with tiny cabinet-type closet space. Definitely missed not having an in-room coffee maker to start my day. The bed was oh-so comfy with feather mattress pad and duvet. Fabulous linens, as well. The bathroom was huge with both a wonderful tub and a walk-in shower. (Water pressure a bit low.) Bath done in marble with high-end fixtures. French bath products provided, as well as terry robe and slippers. Very, very quiet. Accurate thermostat. Four high-speed elevators deliver you quickly. Very capable concierge; acquired show tickets for us with no trouble. WONDERFUL location: 1/2 block from Mag Mile across from Water Tower Place. Several restaurants w/in 50 feet, including one on-site. Room service was wonderful and fast! Will definitely return, as the stay was so pleasant.
