Mark be down as someone who was less than impressed with this positively-reviewed Comfort Inn. It is a semi-renovated hotel in the North Bridge area of Chicago. It's best quality is location - very close to the Magnificent Mile, and within walking distance of all the best sites in Chicago. But the downside....
Except for the handful of rooms facing the street, the rooms are like COFFINS. The hotel is sandwiched between two other buildings, and so most of the rooms face onto a lightwell. No matter what floor you're on, you feel buried.
The room was totally no frills, in the same way that Motel 6 rooms are no frills. The room was clean, in the same way that Motel 6 rooms are (usually) clean. The in-room safe? It didn't work.
Overall, less than impressed. If you're visiting Chicago, do yourself a favor and find a hotel that is situated on a corner of a block, so that you can get a room with windows and light and a view. I recommend the Comfort Inn only for the goth set.
