I went to Channing's for an afternoon of pampering recently and had a terrible reaction to the mixture used in their seaweed wrap. While I understand that this is not their fault, I have received terrible service ever since. I called the day after my treatment and was continuously reassured that the burns, sores, and blisters all over my body would not scar. Keep in mind that they are making these claims without even having seen me or the burns. I was told I could come in and talk with the owner or another staff person, yet when I came in, the staff person I was instructed to speak with had not been informed of the situation and had nothing to say to me except that I would not scar! I wasted a whole Sunday afternoon just to be given well-rehearsed information that they cannot possibly know is true. When I called to ask for a list of ingredients in the mixture they used for the wrap for my doctor, I was told I would have to call back. They have taken absolutely no pro-active steps to address this situation. What should have been an afternoon of relaxation turned into a stressful and physically painful week-long series of events. When I was able to see my doctor, he confirmed that the allergic reaction was not typical of shellfish or iodine allergies, both allergens the staff had told me probably caused the blistering and scabbing. I wrote the owner a letter to follow up and she never responded. Again, I understand some things are beyond their control, but the quality of their customer service is not one of these things. Their staff was rude, irresponsible and callous. I strongly recommend finding another spa.
