Located one block from Michigan Avenue, great staff, clean rooms, feeling of safety, and good price of $89 booked via major airline website.

When I originally made my reservation at this hotel for a Sunday night stay, I got a $209.95 "Stay for breakfast " rate. About 10 days before my trip to Chicago, I got an email through my Marriott Rewards membership saying that the age 62 and over rate for this hotel was $119, so I changed my reservation to the lower rate. I wouldn't say that this hotel is overpriced at $210, but it's definitely a good buy at $119 because it's clean, the staff pleasant and very well located. It's also very safe, requiring use of your hotel key card to operate the elevator.

While the doormen and registration staff are friendly, greeting every guest as s/he enters the hotel, other services are slow. I called the desk to tell them that my TV wasn't working, and it took a second call and a 45-minute wait to get a serviceman to come to my room and fix my TV. I also noticed room service trays outside of rooms for several hours.

The exercise room has a decent amount of cardio equipment and lots of free weights, but the heat/AC and ventilation are poorly regulated. Like many hotel exercise facilities, it gets uncomfortably warm after working out for about 20 minutes.

I stayed here for 3 nights on business. The hotel had a great location, just steps off of Michigan Ave and all of the shops. The staff was very friendly, and there was never a line at the front desk. Breakfast room service came on time, and internet was included in the rate. The room was very average, had a slightly musty smell, and felt a little "motel-ish". There were some tiny windows that didn't provide a lot of natural light in the room. Overall, I don't have any real complaints, but unless I got a great rate, I would likely look for a better hotel option next time I stay in Chicago.

My husband and I stayed here for one night on 4/17 because we redeemed our Marriott points so it was free. The location is great - right off of Michigan Avenue - if you are here for shopping it's a great place to be. The hotel is very large and very busy - tons of people in the lobby and we were told the hotel was at full capacity. Check-in was not a problem. Our room was a king size with a view of the city. The room itself was a good size but the interior was outdated and a little worn. The weirdest thing was that the bed wasn't the standard Marriott bed is always so comfortable - the mattress was hard and and there was no duvet, just a thin blanket over sheets. Kinda odd.

I have stayed at a lot of Courtyards and it seems like a lot of times there is a trade-off between a great location and a great room. For instance not that long ago I stayed at a Courtyard in New Jersey for work and it was the best looking hotel - newly updated rooms, super clean, and the great beds. Sometimes I think consistency is a problem.

Not sure we'd stay here again - there are so many hotels right there at the Mag Mile that I'm sure you could find better. But it was free for us and overall the hotel was fine - just nothing spectacular.
