One of the best crusts as far as deep dish pizzas are concerned,
The breakfast...it is good.
A great place, busy, noisy and completely unique. You should definately share the breakfast no matter how hungry you are ! don't be turned away by the lines outside, it moves pretty quickly. definately worth a visit.
Had breakfast at a sidewalk table after a nice morning rainshower. Our waitress could not have been more authentic - a Packer's fan with season tickets at Lambeau, wearing Packers earrings. She fussed over us for the duration and was a delight.
Now, for the food... Fluffy omelets and pancakes, hot strong coffee, doughnut holes hand-distributed while waiting for a table, crisp thick bacon, fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice... we ate at 10AM and didn't have another hunger pang until after Tom Glavine won his 300th late that evening.
I highly recommend Lou Mitchell's, especially on Sunday morning, when the breakfast grazing crowd is, for the most part, sleeping in.
As an aside, we stayed at the Westin on Michigan, so we caught a cab going, and walked back to the hotel (loaded with fuel that needed burning), stopping only for a visit to the Sears Tower.
Ate here July 2007, I've never seen an omelet so huge, or so many varieties. The donut holes while you wait are an added treat, and the box of Milk Duds came in handy later in the afternoon. After the omelet, we opted to pass on the ice cream for breakfast. I definitely recommend everyone in your party bringing an empty stomach, and each ordering something different, so you can sample everyones.
The service was good, we sat on the sidewalk, which would have been great if there had not been road construction noise - but that was not the fault of the restaurant.
