We had a great dinner at Hugos and went to Jilly's since we had a fifty dollar gift certificate to spend. Ordered a Ketel 1 martini with olives. It did not taste like Ketel 1 to me. I just had one with dinner at Hugos and drink Ketel 1 at home. The olives tasted rotten. How can you screw up olives at a martini bar? Music left much to be desired. We were there for at least 90 minutes, never heard a Sinatra song or anything close to it. The web sight claims that this was Sinatras favorite place. Maybe back when he was hitting Rush Street but he would not like it now. We struck up a conversation with some gentleman who gather once a year and go to Chicago for dinner and end up at Jilly"s. Sounded like they have done this for many years. The place was crowded and they had to stand at the bar. No problem, they were having a great time. The couple seated next to me was starting to leave so I mentioned to our new friends to grab the stools. A slight bump to the woman who was getting up occured. Her husband had a fit and totally over reacted in my opinion. Bouncers appeared, the bar tender came around from behind the bar and someone who claimed to be the owner intervened. This slight problem was turned into a huge one by management. They would not listen to reason and forced one of the men from the group to leave. This is how things are handled at a so called classy piano bar in a great city like Chicago? We left soon after and went down the street to Lux Bar. Very classy and nice ambiance compared to sleazy feeling I got at Jilly"s.
