The China Doll Country was the perfect home away from home!
My daughters and myself spent 3 days in Chicago over
Spring break looking at colleges. We didn't want a hotel but did not know the Chicago area very well. I just happened to come across the website for China Doll, and after reading the information, and taking a web virtual tour, we decided Cnina Doll Country, unit 2, sounded like what we were looking for. We were not disappinted. It was so much better than a hotel, and other bed and breakfasts. Everything was self-contained, no sharing of
living spaces. The rooms were spacious , well appointed, and
very clean! The provided breakfast foods were very much appreciated, and tasty. It was nice to have the computer/ printer/ free phone calls when needed. The house itself is on a nice,quiet , tree lined street, with easy access to the city and surrounding areas. We did make use of the restaurant guides
and dvd library available. The only problem I encountered was in the size of the garage on the property I had reserved. I just couldn't seem to fit my explorer into it ( maybe my husband would have done better ). But I just used the street parking passes and parked in front of the house ( street does fill up as the evening progresses ). Overall, China Doll Country was a wonderful place to stay, and met our needs and expectations. The owners, Jim and Yanan Haring were very accessible, and accomodating to the needs of us, their guests. We would definitely stay here again, and would gladley recommend China

China Doll is an excellent value and wonderful place to stay in Chicago. For anyone considering an extended trip to Chicago, there is no better option. Located in north Lincoln Park, close to public transportation and major roadways, it is a quiet hideaway in a vintage Chicago neighborhood. The accommodations are top notch, with a wonderful kitchen, dining area, sleeping and bathing accommodations, and pleasant amenities. Secure, off street parking is available. The owners, Jim and Yanan Haring, are attentive to their guests needs and immediately responsive when help is needed. This is a five-star experience.

I started staying at the China Doll a couple of years ago. Sept 2006 to be exact when several of us were going to attend the Touch and Go 25th Anniversary Block Party. Having traveled to Chicago frequently since '95 we wanted to try something other than a hotel or motel. We searched for Bed and Breakfasts and came upon the China Doll Short Term Apartment rentals and a couple of others. We were sold pretty quickly when you factored in the amenities and the Neighbourhood and all that surrounds Lincoln Park, Lakeview and Wrigleyville. All of this did not set us up for what we saw and felt when we walked in. It was and remains so lovely and comfortable. We had the best of everything that we needed and then some. No shortcuts are taken at the China Doll Country, or the China Doll where I have also stayed. Jim and Yanan really know how to help someone feel like they are at home, literally. I love it so much that I have stayed there 6 times now (with another booking in a month's time). A couple of times I had only one or 2 things planned but was just able to stay there and relax. And cost wise it is a bit more than a hotel if you are looking at straight dollars but for what you get, its an absolute bargain. Don't hesitate. You will definitely be in good hands. My only reservation in letting folks know how lovely it is, is that they will be too booked up for when I want to stay there.

I really recommend China Doll if you want to have privacy, top service and a great atmosphere.

This is one of the best places you can stay in Chicago.
