Party of seven adults stayed at the Newport Avenue guesthouse for a family wedding last year. You felt like you were right at home. So much better than any hotel stay with plenty of space. Immaculately clean with tasteful interiors, comfortable beds, perfect kitchen and great living spaces. Walking distance to Wrigley Field and to eclectic shopping and dining on Southport Avenue. “L” stop very near by to take you downtown. Loved the neighborhood. I got up every morning and walked just to see all the amazing homes nearby. Could not have asked for a better experience. Enjoyed your hospitality.

Chicago Guest Houses have made my new life as an ex-Chicagoan & a new retiree, possible and delightful. This past weekend I was able to attend five parties in Chicago, contributing food to three of them because I had the wonderful kitchen on Henderson to cook in and the beautifully decorated and heavenly comfortable master bedroom to relax in. The apartment really felt like I was at home (if I could decorate that well!).
If you love Chicago, this is the BEST place to stay while you are there.

My extended family stayed in Newport Avenue guest house over Thanksgiving weekend. There were 8 of us -- 5 adults and 3 small children. The home was exceedingly comfortable for the number of people. The owner has thought of everything: the kitchen was great for cooking large family and holiday meals; the beds are wonderful; parking is convenient. It was a wonderful location from which to explore Chicago!

  • Liked — beds, location, decor
  • Disliked — It's a great value for a large city, but the price makes it something that I personally couldn't afford all the time. I liked it so much that I wish I could come back often!

Terri Smith does a fabulous job with each and everyone of her guest houses. This is my second stay - my first was at the Henderson St location with 5 of my friends. Things were the best from extra towels (which are thick and wonderful) to every possible thing in the kitchen you might need to fabulous space for 6 women- it couldn't have been nicer. Terri has thought of everything! - maps, directions to restaurants, shopping, whatever you would need.
This time I went back with my family - all 8 of us from 1 month old to 61. We stayed at the Newport location this time. What a great way to do Thanksgiving! There was room enough for all of us, but yet we were all together and had space so no one felt cramped. My son and daughter-in-law with 3 small children - 2 in cribs didn't need to bring any supplies except crib sheets. Everything you could possibly need is there.
As a travel agent who has been in the business for 20 plus years and traveled around the world - this ranks extemely high - even compared to luxury hotels.
Anyone even considering a vacation like this - do it, you will not be disappointed!!!!!

I took our extended family to Chicago for a long weekend trip to explore the city and see the Cubs. Chicago Guest House was the perfect place for us to stay. We stayed in a three bedroom home. The place was a beautifully decorated greystone with tons of space, very nice bedding and a terrific location just a short walk from Wrigley Field and several EL stops, plus tons of nearby restaurants, bars and shopping. Wrigleyville/Lakeview is a great neighborhood and gives you a true, upscale Chicago neighborhood experience. Great base for exploring the City.

I really can't say enough about how great this place was for our family, and we are still talking about it a year later. Google their website for lots of very accurate pictures and descriptions. Not cheap, but it was well worth the price, particularly for a large group when compared to the cost of several hotel rooms and you get so much more than you could ever get with a hotel room. Book early, particularly on Cubs home game weekends, as it fills up quickly.

  • Liked — Location, cleanliness, decor
  • Disliked — Can't think of anything other than I wish it wasn't so popular so that prices would be lower and there was more availability on prime weekends
