First, let me just say that I had a nice time staying at the Days Inn in Chicago. I chose the hotel for it's location close to the Halstead nightlife. I wouldn't have chosen it if I wanted to be downtown in the traditional tourist area. The front desk and valet ($22.00 per night, isn't bad for Chicago) clerks were very professional. The Lobby is in my opinion very nice and tasteful, for a hotel at this level. The furniture and decor were charming without being over the top. The building itself is very old, and the renovations did not seem to have changed the original layout of the building. That in my opinion would cause some to think of this hotel as less than adequate while others will find it very charming. I stayed in a room with a single double bed on the 4th floor. It was small. and the view wasn't exactly exciting, overlooking a made up courtyard, I'm sure done up as a joke. the bathroom was tiny, and didn't have much room for toiletries, but for my purpose, it was adequate. I did enjoy using the facilities at the Bally's Fitness around the corner, which were complimentary (excellent value).
Overall, if you don't mind some the disadvantages of the building itself, it is a very charming and nice hotel.
