This hotel is fabulous and a great value. Right on Michigan Ave., it is located across from Grant Park in the heart of the city. Our room was very clean, well appointed, and had everything we needed. It is truly a grand hotel with old style elegance. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The concierge recommended Miller’s Pub for dinner (just a short walk away) and it was perfect. We will definitely stay here again.

There's nothing either bad or good to say about this hotel. It was fine. No poor customer service, no great customer service. The decor was dated, but clean. The room was small, but there was nothing missing. If I were to go back to Chicago, I would probably choose another hotel, but if I had to stay here, I wouldn't complain either. There's just nothing exceptional about it. There are a lot of additional charges, internet had three tiers of service (which just sounds like a scam), lowest of which was $15/day. To check my bags for two hours after checkout was $4. A lot of nickel and diming for a pretty expensive hotel room without a lot of features. Also, the room was quite noisy. Even on the 14th floor, with the blackout curtains pulled, there was a lot of street noise throughout the day and night.

The stay was ok. A couple things I liked was the comfort of the beds and room service was good. Things that I didn't like... when we checked in they did not have our room type, they wanted to give us two double beds on our wedding anniversary. We had to end up paying $50 MORE to get a room with a king bed. Also the next morning we came back to our room after breakfast and our door would not open. I guess the key thing ran out of batterys and they had to spend about 1 hour fixing it while we sat in the hallway. That was a big disappointment. Also parking is an extra $54 dollars so be ready for that. There is a lot around back the is about $18 a night but it is in a uncovered area and very small. I guess overall I just expected to have a better time at a 4 star hotel in downtown Chicago. Maybe we just had bad luck???

My spouse and I needed to move out of our home for 24 hours while it was being "spring cleaned." This year, we selected the Hilton because they welcome dogs that are up to 75 pounds. Our large, male Airedale is over 70 pounds - so, he isn't allowed in most "dog friendly" hotels. At the very last minute, we booked a one-bedroom suite on the 25th floor (executive floor). The entire experience at the Hilton was excellent. From the moment that we arrived, the staff was very accommodating - especially to our dog! They made sure that Oliver had a dog bed, bowls, treats and lots of attention and praise. They even offered to walk him in the park across the street! The suite was updated and since it was a corner (south east) suite, we had windows on two sides - very nice - lots of light. The bed was comfortable and well appointed with plenty of pillows. Room service was very good - we ordered dinner at 8pm and at 8:20pm it arrived, hot and well prepared. Breakfast on the executive floors was excellent - nice options (including "take away" coffee cups with lids) and very friendly and helpful service - especially the concierge. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised - we didn't expect much since it's the "old Hilton" - and, since we just needed a night someplace that welcomed our dog, our expectations were pretty moderate. Hilton greatly exceeded these expectations - we would highly recommend this hotel to families with kids or dogs - the hotel staff goes out of their way to make sure that you're welcomed. Finally, I have to say, the common areas are beautiful and very grand (especially the front, 2 story entrance). With the very reasonable rates that Hilton is charging this summer, you can't go wrong - especially if you're from out-of-town - the location, across from Grant Park, can't be beat! P.S. - Be sure to check and see if you can upgrade your room rate by $10/night to allow for indoor, attached parking (the usual rate (if you don't include it in your room rate) is somewhere around $45/night!).
