We had a celebrity suite that was supposed to have a master bedroom & sleeper sofa in the family room, only to find out when we were going to bed, that our couch was not a sleeper sofa. We had two couples staying in the suite. The hotel was booked & no cots were available in the hotel so we had to sleep on the floor! Not what we expected for the price we were paying. The hotel did give us a discounted rate when we complained, however this was not what we had bargained for.

I have stayed at the AE for years because of it's great location and friendly staff. However, now, the carpets are worn, the furniture is tattered and torn, the TV's are 19" CRT models. This year the shower handle broke causing the water to only come out of the tub faucet. We had to call guest services twice before the engineer showed up 30 minutes later. On Saturday morning the main boiler broke and there was no hot water until after noon.

The heyday of this historic hotel in now over. Now the AE is just old.

This hotel has excellent service and is in a great location. However, it needs major renovations. The hotel has a mold odor on the upper floors and has chipping paint. The window in room was filthy and had massive spider webs. The water was turned off from 11pm till 5am due to plumbing problems. It needs major renovations and would be wonderful because the service is 5 star.

Lobby is beautiful. Staff is outstanding. We stayed for 7 days and had a problem with the toilet and were moved to a new (slightly larger) room as soon as we were ready. The TV didn't work very well and was replaced promptly. The room was lovely, but showing it's age a little. The neighborhood is terrific and very quiet. We would return.
