“Love Chicago, Knickbocker could use some updates”

The Millenium Knickerbocker was a nice hotel, but definitely not the best deal for your dollar in Chicago. It has the feel of one of the nicer chains, but it definitely needs so remodeling. I love the historic features and tales of the hotel that the staff will share with you. And guest rooms were a decent size but could use some new bed linens, etc. However, the worst part was the bathroom. It was by far the smallest bathroom of any hotel I have ever stayed in. I was there on business and it was difficult to get ready for our events in such a small bathroom! I would consider rebooking at the Knickerbocker because of it's ideal location, but maybe after they do some renovating.

“Stay here, but request a renovated room!”

Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago

Apr 26, 2008

I had a rough time getting to Chicago and stayed my first night at the Hilton Suites (Very Nice). Overall my trip wasn't great. The staff at the Knickerbocker however, made me want to return to this hotel and Chicago. I experienced doorman, room service, housekeeping, front desk, catering, and managers. Each one was very nice, attentive, and accomodating. They all went out of their way to make me as comfortable as possible and allow me to enjoy my trip. The hotel itself is under construction. My room was poor at best. It was clean, but in disrepair and very old. My floor was not one that had been renovated. The ice machine was broken and I was afraid to get in the showerf because it was so old and unlit. There were bubbles in the ceiling and peeling wallpaper and paint everywhere. The staff made me want to stay. They brought me a robe, extra blankets, delicious room service and extra coffee. The bellman, Greg, was so helpful with my luggage and made sure I knew where everything was in the room. Once the renovations are complete, if the staff remain, this will be a WONDERFUL hotel to stay while in Chicago. The location is perfect and I hope to visit again soon.

I booked this hotel for a steal on pricineline ($99) and was wary of the reviews but since it's a 4-star, figured it couldn't be that horrible. It was better than expected.

Our room was one of the recently remodeled.. although not 100% complete. There were light fixtures in the doorway that were mounted but not fully installed.

Rooms and bathroom are small, but comparable to what I've found in the Mag Mile area. The new bathroom design is strange - there's a window right in the shower that looks into the bedroom. Tolerable but odd. Love the new Asian theme decor!

We were pleasantly surprised by the service, especially the concierge. It was definitely worth the money to stay on the high end of Mag Mile - right near Louis Vuitton and all the best shopping.

I would recommend this hotel and will stay there again.

I booked the Knickerbocker at the last minute to attend a conference, noting its 4-diamond rating. Please. The hotel is undergoing renovations, which I was not told at the time of booking, and every corner (be it the room, the elevators or the lobby) has dust and dirt. The bathroom was the smallest I have ever been in, and the furniture was chipped and tired. After one night, I cancelled my second and moved across the street to the Drake for $40 more - and the Drake was pure heaven. Maybe the Knickbocker will be better when the renovations are completed, but right now it the pits.

I recently stayed here because I attended a conference in the hotel and I usually stay at the conference hotel for convenience. I had read some of the reviews so I contacted the hotel directly with my concerns. I was given a superior room with my already disocunted rate. The room was very clean but the furniture looked as if it came from a tag sale since nothing matched. The bathroom which was all marble and spotless was tiny. The staff was very accommodating. The location was tops- right across from the Drake Hotel and Bloomingdales on North Michigan Ave. Not a bad choice if you get a good rate because of its outstanding location.
