We stayed at Homewood Suites for one week in May. It was a very nice all suite hotel with so many amenities. Weather was cool and rainy (2 half days only), but that’s a given for the month of May. I’ve attached pictures (not of hotel, as they are exactly “as is” on the website).
We were very close to everything (red line CTA, shopping on Michigan Avenue, restaurants, convenience stores, bus stops, free shuttle to Navy Pier just a few steps away) etc. The best location we could have chosen.
Room was relatively clean. Flat screen in living room was either damaged or had bad resolution, few other minor issues. Rooms were cleaned every day around 10-11am, everything was replenished. I agree with others on this forum that the rooms do look a lot larger on the website than in reality; which is small, but again, comfortable surroundings. Not much walking space in the bedroom and I banged into the wall in the middle of the night on my way to the washroom, so be careful …lol. Our room was quite which we were grateful for. Every vacation we’ve been on, we’ve had noisy occupants, so this was a first.
Breakfast buffet had a large variety of choices to suit everyone. We did not care for the liquid scrambled cheese eggs (too dry and rubbery) and bacon, but everything else was great. We had malt waffles every day! Biscuits are hot and tender. Fresh whole fruit or cut up fruit is a plus, as is skim milk and yogurt. I would personally suggest trying the great restaurants that Chicago has to offer rather than the free dinner buffet (Mon-Thursday), but if you’re on a budget or have a large family to feed, etc. you might want to give it a try. There is free red/white wine and beer, and we saw many people come down for just that.
Free internet access with color printer in the business center was a real plus for helping us research and print off maps for our itinerary. Printer wasn’t working on the last two days we were there though. Gym and pool on 19th floor with a great night view. We never made use of it, but wish we had the time.
Some highlights of our trip were the deep dish pizza which we could not get enough of, the Lincoln Zoo, shopping on Michigan Avenue and The Blue Man Group, which we saw at the last minute. I got pulled onstage by one of the Blue men and it was a thrill to be part of the show for about 15 minutes!!
We love Chicago and will definitely return. We will definitely stay at Homewood Suites! Please message me if you require further info on anything at all. We had a fabulous time. Other than our AA flight which was cancelled and delayed by 12 hours, it was a nice vacation!
